Health , Wellness & Lifestyle Projects of the Center for Healthy Living

Dr. Shmuel Randor, MD, ND, is a veteran holistic physician and naturopath who heads the Health and Wellness projects of the Center for Healthy Living in Tzfat [Amutat Halevav].  Dr. Randor, known as Mooli, is implementing projects for improving the health and well being of Tzfat residents.

Mooli started volunteer teaching of wellness workshops at senior citizens’ centers in Tzfat in 2008 and is emphasizing elements of posture, movement, breathing, positive attitude, proper nutrition, safety issues, weight management and self/mutual-care in common ailments. The positive feedback from participants has prompted the centers to engage Mooli as a regular teacher.

Tzfat residents, many of whom are wellness educators themselves, participated in an evening workshop on October 28, 2008 at the home of Moshe Tov, of Halevav. Mooli demonstrated elements of proper posture and breathing and spoke about health-related projects of Halevav for the near future. Some of the projects are:

1) Mooli is in the process of initiating a certification course in wellness education at Mashabim Institute in Kiryat Shemona to train community center workers and other personnel so they will be able to teach the principles of wellness in their various venues for senior citizens, various populations and special needs groups.

2)  Further down the road--a Holistic Community Poly-Clinic with particular emphasis on empowering individuals and families via counseling and assistance in health behaviors and modifications--partially or fully subsidized for those in need.

3) Holistic Health Workshops and lectures for the public and special needs sectors such as children, chronic illness or substance abuse and families, the disabled/differently able, support groups for people with chronic illness  or substance abuse and their families, at workplaces and for new immigrants. Workshops for seniors have already started as mentioned above.

4) To expand an available instructional manuel re self/mutual-care and to further upgrade it as a multi-media tool.
